Yes, we believe in road safety and uphold the values of sustainable urban mobility, but we also love speed, not recklessly, but in sporting competitions. We had been wanting to return to competitive cycling for some time, and this has been made possible thanks to the proposal of Luís Junquera and Sara Cueto, two experienced Asturian cyclists and a couple who have decided to dominate all categories of fixed gear cycling.
Together, Sara and Luís, with the support of Nesta and our company, Fabricbike, have created the Nesta-Fabricbike Team, specializing in fixed-gear criterium cycling competitions. To compete, they have equipped themselves with our Fabric Light 6061 double-butted aluminum frame, a set of state-of-the-art Nesta wheels, and a Miche drivetrain. By reducing the chain length and using 48-14 gear ratios, they have managed to shave centimeters off the overall size, resulting in an aggressive, responsive, and controlled fixed-gear bike, geared towards high-level competition.
Sara and Luis are looking at the calendar for upcoming dates. Lugones (Asturias) and Valencia are among the first, but they don't hesitate to mention races like the one in Milan, a test event within the Rockstar Games international circuit, the famous RedHook Crits. Below you can see the video of the last of these races, the Brooklyn edition.
We're confident that Nesta-Fabricteam will go far. What will Lugones hold for them? How fast and agile will their Fabric Light be? We'll be able to judge them soon, but for now, we can only wait. Keep an eye on our blog and social media to stay up-to-date on this project and much more.
