Triumph in Lugones

We couldn't be happier, because our team, the Nesta-Fabricbike Team, has dominated in Lugones. For years, the BiciSpace international cycling fair has hosted a fixed-gear criterium competition. The town council closes a large part of the town to traffic, and that's the crucial moment for the competition: Saturday afternoon. Full of enthusiasm, that's how our riders Sara Cueto and Luís Junquera arrived.

After some last-minute adjustments at Fabric Light, they begin their warm-up on the rollers, and shortly afterwards they move on to the qualifying round. In this round, from the first lap, the pair sets the rules of the circuit, taking the best times. Unfortunately, the men's pole position was taken by David Álvarez, from the well-known Santa Catalina CC.

It was race time. Amidst cheers and with a packed crowd, the premier cycling competition began, a high-octane, unrestrained race, but with great technique. Each rider excelled in their respective discipline. Sara and Luis started from very advantageous positions, with a tightly packed peloton that threatened the race's integrity on the curves. Little by little, time and effort determined each rider's position. Sara, the leading woman, managed her energy well throughout the race, strategically selecting the ideal moment and section for her final sprint, establishing a comfortable lead over the competition—a gap that ultimately secured her the gold medal.

As for Luís Junquera, we were able to enjoy a very close and hard-fought race until the end, where an agonizing cadence kept him close to the winner, Gonzalo Andrés of 53DNTSxPolo&Bike, who had escaped with a difference of more than 10 seconds from the first laps. Luís's work, lap after lap, clinging to the asphalt on every turn, cutting second by second with his legs burning and risking everything, made him enter the finish line arriving with a distance of 5 meters from the gold. Without a bad taste in our mouths, we are left with a deserved and hard-fought silver.

With this fantastic start to the season, and still breathless, Sara and Luís are looking ahead with their heads held high. This is just the beginning of a great season, we're sure of it.
